Loestrin Fe is a type of drug that belongs to the category called birth control pills. Loestrin Fe is used to prevent pregnancy or being pregnant. Loestrin Fe could also be used in other purposes not mentioned here.
How Taken
Take Loestrin Fe exactly as directed by your doctor to get the desired effect. To reduce the risk of side effects and to prevent pregnancy, take the doses not greater than 24 hours apart if possible. On days 21 through 28 of your cycle, the last seven tablets of Loestrin Fe you are to take contains iron. This will help replace the iron you lose in your menstrual period.
Warnings/Precautions
Talk to your doctor first before taking Loestrin Fe if you have abnormal changes in menstrual or uterine bleeding, endometriosis, fibroid tumors of the uterus, blood clots, heart or circulation disease or problems, have or have had stroke, breast disease, cancer, chorea gravidarum, gallbladder disease, high blood cholesterol, liver disease, diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, hypertension, and migraine.
Avoid smoking. It greatly increases your risk of a heart attack, stroke or blood clot formation.
Talk to your doctor first before taking Loestrin Fe if you have allergy to any of the ingredients of Loestrin Fe or to any estrogen or progestin, or having special diet like low-sodium or low-sugar diet.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose of Loestrin Fe, follow the instruction of your doctor or in the label on how to manage a missed dose.
Possible Side Effects
Most Loestrin Fe side effects are not serious, and those that are occur infrequently. Serious risks that can be life-threatening include blood clots, stroke or heart attacks, which are increased if you smoke cigarettes.
Storage
Store Loestrin Fe (Oral) at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture unless otherwise stated by manufacturer's instructions or labelling. Keep Loestrin Fe Oral) and all medications out of the reach of children.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose with Loestrin Fe, contact your doctor immediately and ask him for instructions.
